Stock plugs are only designed to deal with heat generated by using the stock super charger pulley. Once a reduced pulley is being used much more heat is generated which can cause the plugs to over heat and fail leading to possible piston damage.
If your opting for a reduced size pulley especially 17% we would always recommend looking into changing your intercooler along the line as large volumes of heat can result in power loss and the ECU will limit the cars capability if excessive heat is generated. Driving styles and vehicle use e.g track days do have a large impact.
